Mushtaq Barq, Gulzar Ganai selected for Ahad Zargar Memorial Awards
Srinagar, Aug 5: Ahad Zargar Memorial Research Foundation today announced the decision of the jury for two annual awards.
The jury chose the noted writer, translator, and interpreter of Sufi poetry Mushtaq B Barq for the Ahad Zargar Literature Award 202,5 while as prominent top-grade folk music singer Gulzar Ahmad Ganai has been selected for the Ahad Zargar Award for Cultural Contribution.
The jury unanimously selected these two luminaries for this year's award.
The note of the jury reads : 'Mushtaq B Barq has translated and interpreted the poetry of Sochi Kral, Wahab Khar, Ahad Zargar and Ahmad Batwari and others into English. He has three translations of Ahad Zargar’s works to his credit. In addition to this, his writings on Sufi poetry of Kashmir have made a mark on the literary landscape of our times.
Maestro Gulzar Ahmad Ganai is a top grade folk artist who is an ambassador of the Sufi ethos of our land globally. He is not only celebrated amongst the Kashmiri-speaking people within the country but beyond the boundaries too. His musical contribution is worth the celebration ".
These awards will be presented on Ahad Zargar Memorial Day on August 12.
