Mughal Road to be opened by March end: DC Poonch
Rajouri, Mar 26: The Mughal Road will be opened by the end of March while the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) has so far cleared snow from 42.3 kilometres of Mughal Road from Poonch and 1.3 km stretch is to be cleared now.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Yasin Muhammad Choudhary, who visited the road to oversee the status of snow clearance, said that it would be made operational for the movement of vehicles by the end of this month.
The road got closed four months ago after snowfall led to its blockage.
The department launched the snow clearance work in the first week of March.
Assistant Engineer Mechanical Engineering Department (MED), Tariq Ahmad said that snow clearance work was going on at a full pace.
“Till Tuesday evening, we cleared 43.3 km of road from Bufliyaz side,” he said.
Ahmad said that only 1.3 km of road stretch was remaining to be cleared from the Pir Ki Gali which was the last point of road in Poonch district and the boundary where the jurisdiction of Poonch and Shopian districts lap.
He said that the snow clearance work from the Shopian side had already reached Pir Ki Gali.
