Mughal Road shut; Pir Panjal areas receive fresh snowfall

Rajouri, Dec 16: The upper reaches of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch Saturday received fresh snowfall amid persisting bad weather conditions while Mughal road was shut for movement of all kinds of vehicles, after accumulation of snow from Poshana to Heerpora.

The weather conditions turned inclement across Rajouri and Poonch early Saturday morning as rains lashed low lying areas while upper reaches received snowfall.

“Upper reaches of Thanamandi, Darhal, Kotranka, Budhal, Surankote, Mandi, Loran and Saujiyan have been experiencing snowfall since Saturday morning,” the officials said.

The movement of vehicles on Mughal Road has also been suspended by authorities after accumulation of snow.

DTI Traffic Police Mughal Road, Kapil Manhas said, “On Saturday morning, road was closed for vehicular movement due to snowfall. At present, no traffic is allowed.”

He said, “Snowfall is going on continuously and vehicular movement will only be restored after fair weather conditions and clearance of snow.”
