Mughal Road shut for 5th day
Rajouri, Dec 31: The vehicular movement on the Mughal Road remained suspended for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday with slippery conditions forcing the authorities to keep the road closed despite snow clearance.
The road connecting Poonch with the Shopian district was closed on Friday after snowfall and has been blocked since then.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surankote, Farooq Khan Nazki told Greater Kashmir that severe slippery conditions were found over the road during multiple joint inspections conducted on Tuesday morning, afternoon, and evening.
“We decided not to allow traffic over the road with such slippery conditions as there is a high risk of accidents,” he said.
Nazki said that the snow clearance work was completed from the Poonch side on Monday evening while from Shopian side on Sunday but slippery conditions forced the authorities not to allow the movement of traffic.
