Mughal Road remains closed
Rajouri, Jan 14: The Mughal Road, a vital connectivity link between Poonch and Shopian districts, remained closed for the 18th consecutive day today due to adverse weather conditions.
Despite the completion of snow clearance operations, the road cannot be reopened for traffic due to slippery conditions caused by frost. The frosty conditions have made the road surface extremely treacherous, posing a significant risk to commuters, officials said.
The authorities have been left with no option but to keep the road closed until the weather improves and the road becomes safe for travel, they added. The prolonged closure of the Mughal Road has caused inconvenience to travelers, affected trade and commerce, and disrupted the supply of essential goods and services to the region, the officials stated.
