Mughal Road partially restored for traffic after 4 days
Rajouri, Dec 3: On the fourth day after its closure due to snowfall, the Mughal Road has been restored partially by the authorities with the vehicles plying from Poonch to Shopian side for a couple of hours after Sunday afternoon.
The road was closed on Wednesday night due to snowfall and vehicular movement had been suspended since then.
Officials said that the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) launched the snow clearance operation on Friday afternoon that continued till Saturday evening and the road was cleared for single-lane movement of vehicles but traffic was not allowed due to severe slippery conditions.
They said that a joint inspection was conducted on Sunday afternoon and it was found that slippery conditions had eased following which traffic was restored.
DTI Traffic Police Mughal Road, Kapil Manhas said that after the restoration of the road late Sunday afternoon, single-lane traffic was allowed and vehicles moved from Poonch to Shopian side.
He said that 85 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) moved from Poonch side to Shopian side and the movement of vehicles was stopped at around 5 pm as night traffic movement is still not allowed on the Mughal Road.
