Mughal Road likely to open on April 10
Rajouri, Apr 7: Authorities are likely to restore Mughal Road for movement of vehicles in next four to five days with single side snow clearance work has already been completed from both sides of Pir Ki Gali and now road widening work is underway.
The snow clearance work on Mughal Road was taken up by Border Roads Organization (BRO) nine days ago and was going on from both the sides of Pir Ki Gali that include the side of Poonch district and other side of Shopian district. The Mughal Road, which was earlier under the control of Mughal Road Projects as well as Mechanical Engineering Division was taken over by Border Roads Organization (BRO) in the month of December last year.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surankote, Farooq Khan said that the Mughal Road is expected to be opened on April 10. According to SDM Khan, snow clearance work on the road has been completed up to Pir Ki Gali from the Poonch side.
"Repair and renovation work is currently underway, and authorities are hopeful that the road will be ready for public use by the scheduled date." SDM said. The Mughal Road, a vital connectivity route, has been closed for several months due to heavy snowfall and maintenance work. The opening of the road is expected to ease travel and facilitate the movement of people and goods in the region.
