Mughal Road closed

Rajouri, Apr 27:  Amid inclement weather conditions and fresh snowfall, Mughal Road, connecting the Shopian district with Poonch, was closed for the movement of all kinds of vehicles on Saturday.

Officials said that the Engineering Department also asked the Traffic Police to ensure that no vehicle was allowed to ply on the road. “Mughal Road was open for the last two days but the weather suddenly turned inclement after the area received fresh snowfall,” officials said.

“Inclement weather has caused closure of the road and there is no movement of vehicles,” they said.

Executive Engineer Public Works Department (PWD), Shokat Ali said, “The road condition presently is bad, making it difficult to ensure smooth movement of transport. We are facing regular instances of shooting stones and landslides. Besides, fresh snowfall has caused slippery conditions on the road.”

He said, “A communication has been established with the Traffic Police as well as other respective agencies to ensure that no movement of vehicles takes place on the road in present condition.”

Deputy SP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch, Muhammad Nawaz said, “Mughal Road is closed for movement of vehicles and no vehicle has been allowed to move.” “A communication has also been received from the Engineering Department and restrictions will remain imposed. People are requested to refrain from movement on their own,” he said.
