Mughal Road | Authorities to take call on restoration of road in joint meet
Rajouri, Apr 2: Authorities will take a final call for restoration of Mughal Road in a joint meeting in next two days.
The Mechanical Engineering Department is now working to widen the narrow stretches of the road after completion of work for single lane restoration.
The road remained close for three months from December onwards with snow clearance work was taken up in first week of March and it was completed last week as snow clearance machinery of Mechanical Engineering Department reached Pir Ki Gali where Shopian side staff had already reached.
However, the authorities are still to take a call on restoration of road and a joint meeting has been planned in next two days.
The meeting is to be chaired by District Magistrate Poonch with officers of civil administration, police administration, traffic police, Mughal Road Projects, Mechanical Engineering Department. A final call on restoration of road will be taken in the meeting.
Deputy SP Traffic, Rajouri Poonch, Mohammad Nawaz said that road has been cleared on single lane basis and it could be restored soon but the decision will be taken in a joint meeting. " The meeting is scheduled in next two days where district administration Poonch will take a call after consultation of all the concerned departments,." he said.
Assistant Executive Engineer of Mechanical Engineering Department, Tariq Mahmood said that his department has cleared the road for single lane movement of vehicles and now widening of narrow patches and turns is going on. He said that mandate of MED is for clearing snow after which civil administration, police has to decide on opening of road.
Executive Engineer of Mughal Road Projects, Shokat Ali meanwhile said that incidents of shooting stones are a bit cause of concern. He informed that a team of his department visited the road stretch on Tuesday where it has been found that some incidents of shooting stones and snow slides are taking place.
