Mudslides, shooting stones halt traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway
Srinagar, Mar 31: Authorities on Sunday stopped traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway after mudslides and shooting stones occurred at several places in Banihal Ramban Sector.
A Traffic Official said the vehicular movement on the highway has been suspended temporarily while as restoration work is in progress.
“Jammu-Srinagar NHW is blocked at Kishtwari Pather in Sher Bibi area due to shooting stones. The restoration work is in progress. People are advised to avoid any journey on NH-44 till the road is cleared,” the official said.
He said the highway is also closed at Mehar, Cafeteria Mord, and Gangroo areas due to mudslides and shooting stones after heavy rains lashed Banihal Ramban sector.
“To avoid congestion on the highway the traffic movement was stopped at Qazigund and Udhampur sides,” he added.
