Mubarak Gul slams Waqf Board for inaugurating ‘incomplete’ Eidgah pulpit
Srinagar, March 28: Expressing strong displeasure over the premature inauguration of the Mimber Shareef at the historic Eidgah, MLA Eidgah, Haji Mubarak Gul, has termed the move by the Waqf Board as an "eye wash" aimed at misleading the public. The Mimber Shareef, which holds immense religious and historical significance, was inaugurated by the Chairperson of the Waqf Board despite the fact that the structure remains incomplete.
Haji Mubarak Gul questioned the undue haste shown by the Waqf authorities in inaugurating an unfinished project. "Why was there such a rush to inaugurate the Mimber when the work is not fully completed? This act reflects a lack of seriousness and disregard for the sentiments of the people," he remarked.
The MLA also expressed disappointment over the fact that the local elected representative was neither informed nor taken into confidence before the inauguration. "Jammu and Kashmir now has a democratically elected government, and it is imperative for all institutions, including the Waqf Board, to respect the mandate of the people. Bypassing the local MLA in matters of such importance is unacceptable and undermines the democratic process," he said.
Haji Mubarak Gul further stated that he would be submitting a privilege motion against the Waqf Board for failing to involve the local MLA in the process, despite the project being situated in his constituency. He emphasized that such unilateral actions not only violate established protocols but also disregard the sentiments of the local population.
He urged the Waqf Board to rectify its approach and ensure that the remaining work on the Mimber Shareef is completed without further delay, ensuring that the structure is ready to serve its intended purpose with dignity and reverence.
