MP Mian Altaf flags fake recruitment scams in Parliament
Ganderbal, Dec 13: National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad Friday expressed concern over the fake recruitment agencies, who fraudulently dupe innocent people on the pretext of providing jobs in and outside the country.
Speaking in Parliament, Altaf raised the question of fake recruitment agencies and urged the government to take measures to prevent such frauds and take action against the guilty.
Altaf said many innocent people are trapped by such agencies who promise them lucrative jobs abroad.
“Many innocent people, particularly from Jammu and Kashmir, who are trapped by such fake recruitment agencies, face difficulties and trouble,” he said. “There are so many of these fake recruitment agencies and individuals who promise lucrative employment opportunities and later leave many individuals in distress.”
Altaf urged the government to create a system so that the people who want to go for a job should do it without any fraud and the government should take swift and decisive action to curb the growing menace and protect vulnerable job seekers.
In response to Altaf’s concerns, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar assured the Parliament that the government was aware of the situation and had already initiated measures to address the issue.
“The issue is with so many MPs and in their areas. However, the Ministry of External Affairs maintains an official portal listing legal and verified recruitment agencies, encouraging citizens to check this portal before making any employment-related decisions,” he said. “We have taken several measures to increase awareness and ensure that only legal and registered agencies operate. A comprehensive list of accredited agencies is available on our official portal. I urge everyone to consult it before engaging with any recruitment agency.”
Jaishankar said that the government was conducting awareness campaigns to educate the people about the risks of falling victim to such scams.
He urged the Members of Parliament to bring any such issues to their notice so that appropriate action and measures are taken.
