The MLAs raised various issues pertaining to their respective constituencies. One of the key issues discussed was the relocation of the Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH), currently housed in a dilapidated building in the congested old town of Sherbagh. A proposal was put forward to relocate the MCCH to the Trauma Hospital in Bijbehara.

However, this suggestion faced opposition from the traders’ federation of Anantnag. Alternative proposals included shifting the hospital to the Rehamat-I Alam hospital, as initially decided by the government, or constructing a new hospital building at the existing site or in GMC Anantnag campus.

The MP, legislators, and concerned officers concluded the meeting with a commitment to address the matter in subsequent discussions.
