Jammu, Dec 14: MP Rajya Sabha Engineer Gulam Ali Khatana Thursday met the Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari to review the progress of various developmental projects in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting, held at New Delhi, witnessed in-depth discussions on key infrastructure initiatives and the imperative integration of modern technology to enhance road safety.

A primary concern addressed during the meeting was the urgent need for advanced crash barriers on critical roads such as Srinagar-Jammu, Batote-Kishtwar, which unfortunately turned into perilous routes for commuters. Recognizing the pressing issue, Khatana emphasized the importance of deploying cutting-edge technology in these areas to minimize accidents and ensure the safety of the travelling public.

The BJP MP discussed vital projects, with a particular focus on the progress of the Jammu-Kathua road; Katra-Amritsar, and the Delhi road. He sought updates on these initiatives, stressing their significance in fostering connectivity, economic growth and overall development in the region.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari affirmed the Government of India's unwavering commitment to build world-class road networks, with a special emphasis on border states. He highlighted the transformative changes witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir over the past nine years, attributing these developments to the government's dedicated efforts.

He (Gadkari) assured that the Ministry for Roads, Transport, and Highways would continue to prioritize the development of robust infrastructure, with an overarching goal of ensuring seamless connectivity and fostering economic prosperity in the region.
