Mourning processions taken out in Kargil, Leh, Drass
Kargil, Mar 1: Hundreds of people in Ladakh’s Kargil, Leh and Drass towns held mourning processions and peaceful protests on Sunday after reports emerged of the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israel strikes.
The killing of Iran supreme leader and Shia community spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the US-Israel strikes sparked protests and widespread condemnation in Ladakh region.
Hundreds of people, mostly from the Shia community, took to the streets, carrying black flags and portraits of Khamenei, and shouting anti-US and anti-Israel slogans. The protests were peaceful, with participants expressing their grief and solidarity with the people of Iran. The local community leaders, condemned the killing. In Leh, Hundreds of Shia Muslims, including women, gathered to protest the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Beating chest and mourning, protesters were carrying red and black flags. The protesters raised anti-U.S. and anti-Israel slogans.
In Drass town of Ladakh, A combined Sunni and Shia procession was observed at Drass Market to mourn the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei , the Supreme Leader of Iran, expressing solidarity with the Iranian people. Hundreds in Drass gathered to mourn Iran’s Supreme Leader’s death. The news of the supreme leader’s death spread swiftly through social media and community networks in Drass , prompting spontaneous gatherings in central locations across the region. Men, women and youth representing various villages came together to express their grief.
