A: Do a quick pre-Ramzan check—BP, sugar, kidney function and medication review. Fitness to fast is decided medically, not emotionally.

Q: I managed fasts last year. Can I follow the same medicine schedule this Ramzan?

A: Not automatically. Health status changes with time. Always review medicines each Ramzan with your doctor.

Q: I feel fine in the morning but very drained by late afternoon while fasting. Normal?

A: Mild tiredness can occur, but persistent exhaustion may signal dehydration, low sugar, anemia or heart strain, get evaluated.

Q: Is Sehri really necessary if I am not hungry?

A: Absolutely. Skipping sehri in seniors increases risk of hypoglycaemia, weakness and daytime dizziness.

Q: I get headaches during the first few fasts. Should I worry?

A: Early Ramzan headaches often relate to dehydration, caffeine withdrawal or sleep disturbance, but persistent or severe headaches need review.

Q: My sugars are “borderline.” Can I fast without checking frequently?

A: No. Blood sugar monitoring during Ramzan is essential and does NOT break the fast.

Q: What is the biggest mistake seniors make at iftar?

A: Overloading on fried and sugary foods after long fasting, this stresses the heart, spikes sugar and worsens acidity.

Q: I feel more breathless this Ramzan while climbing stairs. Ignore or act?

A: Act. New or worsening breathlessness in Ramzan should never be dismissed as weakness or age.

Q: I live alone and Ramzan evenings feel emotionally heavy. Does this affect health?

A: Yes. Emotional isolation can worsen BP, sleep and mood. Stay connected, one shared iftar can change the day.

Q: When must a senior break the fast immediately?

A: Break fast if there is severe weakness, confusion, chest pain, fainting, sugar <70 or >300, or clear dehydration symptoms.
