Motorcyclist killed after bike plunges into gorge in Kishtwar’s Dachhan

Ramban, Jan 17: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot after his motorcycle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Pinjrari area of Dachhan in Kishtwar district of Chenab Valley on Saturday, officials said.

The accident occurred on a link road when the rider lost control of the wheel, causing the motorcycle to skid into a deep stream in the Pinjrari area of Dachhan.

The impact proved fatal, resulting in the on-the-spot death of the rider. After the accident, rescue teams and Police rushed to the scene and launched rescue and recovery operations.

The body was later retrieved from the gorge and shifted to the District Hospital, Kishtwar, for medico-legal formalities.

District Hospital Kishtwar authorities identified the deceased as Abdul Majid, son of Sallu Gujjar of Thakrie, Sarawan area of Kishtwar.

Police said that preliminary investigations suggest over-speeding as the probable cause of the accident.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, authorities have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving on hilly roads, especially during the winter season when road conditions remain hazardous.
