Motorcycle rider crushed to death in Bandipora
Bandipora, Oct 6: A youth from Saderkoot Bla in north Kashmir's Bandipora district died on Sunday afternoon after being crushed by a speeding tipper truck.
Officials identified the deceased as Tahir Mohi-ud-Din, a 19-year-old resident of Bonpora village in the Saderkoot division.
Officials at the Community Health Centre (CHC), where locals rushed the youth, declared Tahir "brought dead" upon arrival.
Despite the obvious crush injuries, the "devastated family" refused to consent to a postmortem, a CHC official told Greater Kashmir.
His mangled motorbike also indicated that the "impact was huge." "He was first hit, then run over," a local named Umar Ahmad said.
Saqib Hassan, DO Ajas, told Greater Kashmir that the police acted quickly, arresting the driver and seizing the vehicle.
The police arrested the driver of the tipper truck, registration number JK01-K7865, in a case (FIR No. 175/2024) under BNS sections 125A and 282, which refer to negligent and rash driving.
Meanwhile, the village was shrouded in gloom as the youth's body was taken for burial. Men and women alike beat their foreheads and chests, lamenting the boy's death.
Furthermore, Mohammad Sidiq, a government employee, died in the same village on Sunday after falling from the roof of his under-construction house, adding to the villagers' grief.
