Mortal remains of MBBS student reach native home from Iran

Sopore, Jan 20: Mortal remains of an MBBS student, who died of a suspected cardiac arrest in Tehran earlier this month, have reached back to his native place in Sopore for last rites today afternoon.

Relatives of the deceased said that the body of Arsalan Amin Kanjwal, 28, who expired due to a heart attack on 5/6 January 2024 in the capital of Iran, reached home.

“After the post-mortem and fulfillment of other formalities, the body was airlifted from Tehran at 6.10 pm on 19 January and arrived at New Delhi at 1.15 am today”, they said.

“The body was then airlifted to Srinagar in a delayed Indigo flight and had reached Srinagar Airport today by 1.45 pm”, the relatives added.

From Srinagar airport the body was transported in an ambulance to his native town in Sopore for last rites. His funeral prayers were held at 5 pm at Anjuman graveyard here in Sopore, in which hundreds of people took part.
