New Delhi, Feb 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended a warm welcome to French President Emmanuel Macron, expressing confidence that the high-level visit will take the India–France strategic partnership to new heights.

Highlighting the importance of the visit, Modi said engagements in Mumbai and later in Delhi would provide fresh momentum to bilateral ties. He reaffirmed that cooperation between India and France would not only benefit the two countries but also contribute positively to global progress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet President Macron in Mumbai late this afternoon. The French leader will then travel to Delhi on Wednesday for further official engagements.

In a post on X, Modi wrote: “Welcome to India! India looks forward to your visit and to advancing our bilateral ties to new heights. I am confident that our discussions will further strengthen cooperation across sectors and contribute to global progress. See you in Mumbai and later in Delhi, my dear friend @EmmanuelMacron.”

Earlier, Macron posted on X while en route to India: “En route to India! Three days from Mumbai to New Delhi to take our strategic partnership even further. On board with me: business leaders and the economic, industrial, cultural and digital players who give real, tangible life to the ties between India and France. Together, we will go even further in our cooperation. See you tomorrow, my dear friend @NarendraModi.”

The Ministry of External Affairs also welcomed the French President. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on X, “Towards a stronger India-France strategic partnership! Warm welcome to the President @EmmanuelMacron of the French Republic.” He added that the French President was received at the Mumbai airport by the Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
