Modi govt committed to bring Indian citizens home safely from Iran: Sunil Sharma

Jammu, Jun 17: Senior BJP leader and leader of opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma on Tuesday reiterated the Modi government's firm commitment to safeguard the lives and interests of Indian citizens living abroad.

He emphasised the strength and responsiveness of the Ministry of External Affairs under the current administration.

"Our Ministry of External Affairs is strong and decisive. The Modi government has proven time and again that it stands by every Indian, no matter where they are in the world," Sharma said.

He was responding to a question about students from Jammu and Kashmir reportedly stranded in war-torn Iran, reports KNS.

LoP noted that the government has consistently acted to ensure that any Indian citizen in distress is brought home safely, including to Jammu & Kashmir or any part of the country.

"We want to assure the people that the Indian government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, takes swift action through our foreign ministry to prevent any harm to Indian nationals abroad," he added.

Calling for calm and cooperation, he urged the public and media to trust the efforts of the government and the Ministry of External Affairs. "There is full hope and faith in the system. Our foreign policy is driven by national interest and the safety of every Indian," he stated.
