Srinagar, Feb 27: Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director of Sericulture J&K, met with Dr. Farooq Fareed Nabi, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Srinagar, at the latter's office today.

The officials held productive discussions focusing on integrating ex-servicemen and widows of fallen soldiers into sericulture development programs.

During the meeting, Bhat emphasised the importance of providing sericulture skills training to war widows and retired military personnel.

He noted that mastering modern sericulture techniques would create sustainable livelihood opportunities and help these families achieve financial independence.

Bhat outlined various schemes available through the Sericulture Development Department and stressed the need for greater awareness of these opportunities among the ex-servicemen community. He pledged full departmental support for training initiatives aimed at socio-economic advancement of these groups.

Dr. Nabi welcomed the proposal and expressed eagerness to partner with the Sericulture Department to facilitate participation of veterans and bereaved military families in income-generating sericulture activities. He recognized the economic potential of sericulture and commended the department's efforts to include these vulnerable groups in its programmes.

The meeting concluded with both officials agreeing to collaborate closely on implementing skill development initiatives benefiting ex-servicemen and war widows across Jammu and Kashmir.
