Moderate snowfall makes Gurez out of bounds

Bandipora, Jan 21: The Gurez- Bandipora road was shut for traffic on Tuesday following fresh snowfall in the valley. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gurez Mukhtar Ahmad said that the road has been closed.

"In view of snowfall the traffic on Bandipora Gurez road shall remain suspended till further orders," he said. Locals said Gurez saw moderate snowfall, both in plains and in the upper reaches, which includes centrally located Dawar Tehsil, Bagtore, and Tulail region.

A local resident Mukhtar Ahmad said Dawar witnessed around seven inch snow while as per officials there was around one feet snow depth recorded on Razdan Top.

Officials said internal roads were cleared while snow clearance operations on Bandipora-Gurez will commence as soon as there is improvement in weather.
