MLAs of Thanamandi, Surankote start statehood restoration signature campaign in Rajouri
Rajouri, Jan 1: Independent Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Thanamandi Rajouri, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan and Surankote Poonch, Chowdhary Akram on Wednesday started a signature campaign for the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir.
They started the signature campaign and then led a march up to the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex where they submitted a written memorandum to the officers of the administration.
The memorandum for the Prime Minister of India has demanded immediate restoration of statehood and other rights.
MLA Thanamandi Khan said that they target to take the signatures of people of J&K in the next 3 months.
The two MLAs said that these signatures would be tabled before the assembly for onward submission to the Government of India.
They said that no one in J&K was happy at snatching special status from J&K and everyone wanted immediate restoration of the statehood and special rights.
The two MLAs said that this movement had been launched as per the ambit of law.
They said the signature campaign would be carried out as per the law and in a democratic setup and all the signatures would be put before Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and for onward submission to the Government of India.
