MLA Sopore holds meeting to review developmental issues
Sopore, Oct 31: The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Sopore assembly constituency, Irshad Rasool Kar, chaired a maiden introduction and review meeting with civil administration officers in Sopore on Thursday.
During the meeting, the MLA conducted a comprehensive review of the overall developmental progress within the constituency. The officers presented an overview of department-wise activities, as well as the development and welfare initiatives currently being undertaken in the Sopore constituency.
The MLA assessed various developmental issues, including road connectivity, water supply concerns, health sector initiatives and upgrades, school education, the acceleration of the irrigation canal network, rural development, horticulture, agriculture works and schemes, and other matters of public importance.
In relation to the health sector, the MLA issued strict directives to the Block Medical Officer (BMO) to ensure that all available facilities at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Sopore are utilised for the benefit of the broader public.
He also reviewed ongoing work projects being implemented by the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department and other executing agencies. He requested the prompt compilation and submission of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to ensure the timely commencement of newly initiated works.
Emphasising the importance of cleanliness, he instructed the officers from the Municipal Committee (MC) Sopore to upgrade sanitation facilities for improved hygiene.
The MLA stated, “I am elected by the people, and the officers present here are working for the people, so let us coordinate our efforts to provide the best for the community.”
He emphasised the need for a compassionate approach in addressing the issues of marginalised communities and ensuring that welfare schemes reach the most vulnerable residents. He urged officials to extend the benefits of welfare programmes to those engaged in the unorganised sectors by implementing Labour and Employment schemes.
The meeting was attended by several officials, including ADC Sopore S.A. Raina, the Superintending Engineer (SE) PWD (R&B), the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Executive Engineers (XENs) from various departments, including PWD, Irrigation, Flood Control, and the Power Development Department (PDD), as well as other officials representing different departments.
