MLA Sajjad Shaheen inaugurates job-cum-entrepreneurship mela at GDC Banihal

Banihal, Oct 16: National Conference (NC) leader and MLA Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen today inaugurated the Job-cum-Entrepreneurship Mela at Government Degree College, Banihal. The event was organized by the District Employment & Counselling Centre, Ramban, under the Mission YUVA initiative of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

In his address, the MLA underscored the vital importance of empowering youth through entrepreneurship and self-employment, describing it as the cornerstone of a self-reliant and progressive Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Mission YUVA represents a comprehensive effort to transform the region’s youth from job seekers into job creators.

Shaheen inspected various stalls set up by young entrepreneurs and interacted with representatives of the leading companies participating in the mela. He lauded the spirit of innovation and determination demonstrated by local youth, particularly those who have initiated small-scale enterprises contributing to local employment generation.

On the occasion, loans were sanctioned to four young entrepreneurs under the Mission YUVA scheme for the purchase of vehicles to support their livelihood ventures. The MLA also interacted with YUVA Doots and representatives of various training institutes, stressing the need for sustained skill development, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship mentoring to enhance employability and enterprise readiness among the youth.

He reiterated that Mission YUVA is not merely a government programme but a people-centric movement aimed at building a resilient and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir by harnessing the potential and energy of its youth. Appreciating the participation of eight reputed companies that conducted on-spot recruitment drives, Shaheen said such platforms play a crucial role in connecting employers with local talent and fostering a culture of enterprise and economic inclusion.

Calling upon the youth to seize the opportunities available under various government initiatives, Shaheen urged them to pursue innovation-driven ventures and contribute proactively to the socio-economic development of the region. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting all initiatives that strengthen youth empowerment, skill enhancement, and sustainable employment in Banihal and beyond.
