MLA Rajouri raises Mini Secretariat issue again in Assembly
Rajouri, Oct 31: A day after Greater Kashmir highlighted the long-pending demand for the construction of a Mini Secretariat in Rajouri, MLA Iftikhar Ahmed once again raised the issue in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, urging the government to expedite the stalled project.
Raising the matter during the ongoing Assembly session, the MLA said the absence of a Mini Secretariat has severely hampered public service delivery in Rajouri, as most government offices continue to function from scattered locations, many of them operating from rented buildings.
He said a consolidated complex was essential to ensure hassle-free governance and efficient citizen services.
Responding to the MLA’s concern, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, who holds the Public Works Department portfolio, informed the House that substantial funds running into crores of rupees had already been spent on the project up to the plinth level.
However, he acknowledged that the work has remained stalled midway due to a pending land transfer issue, which, he said, was being addressed to facilitate the resumption of construction.
