MLA Qaiser Lone inaugurates Shaheen-e-Lolab Cricket Tournament in Kupwara
Kupwara, May 27: Giving a boost to youth sports in north Kashmir, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lolab Qaiser Jamsheed Lone on Tuesday inaugurated the Shaheen-e-Lolab Cricket Tournament in Sogam, Kupwara.
Organised by the Private School Association, Zone Sogam, the tournament features 30 school teams from across the Lolab Valley, aiming to promote sportsmanship and student engagement through cricket.
Six schools participated in the inaugural matches, with Anwar Memorial High School Lapora and Modern Public School Deewar emerging as winners.
Speaking on the occasion, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone congratulated the Private School Association, Zone Sogam, for organising the tournament for the students. "I am happy to be here among these little kids. I believe youngsters, if given a proper platform, can excel in any field, and sports happen to be a great one.
On the occasion, Lone assured full support to the organisers of the tournament.
The President of the Private School Association, Zone Sogam, and Joint Secretary Er Munir-ul-Islam emphasised the importance of sports alongside education for the physical and mental well-being of children.
