MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali demands fast track investigation into the death of tribal girl; seeks stern punishment for culprits

Kangan, May 05: Member of Legislative Assembly Kangan Mian Mehar Ali has expressed shock over the death of a tribal girl after an assault and rape incident. Mian Mehar Ali demanded a fast-track investigation into the incident and sought a stern punishment for the culprits involved.

“A Bakerwal girl has been brutally assaulted and raped, leading to her death, by two men in Nishat area of Srinagar. I demand fast track investigation into the incident and exemplary punishment to the perpetrators” Mian Mehar posted on X.

Pertinent to mention, a nomadic woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Nishat area of Srinagar after she was allegedly assaulted on Sunday, officials said.

Police on Sunday took strong congnizance of a reported incident of sexual assault of a woman in Nishat area of Srinagar. They said an FIR under relevant sections of the law has been registered while as four accused persons involved in the crime have also been arrested.

Srinagar Police in a post on X (formerly Twitter) said: “Srinagar Police has taken cognizance of a reported incident of sexual assault of a woman near Water Works Road, Nishat, who sustained grievous injuries and was later declared brought dead at the hospital”.

“FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Nishat and four accused persons involved in the commission of crime have been arrested. Further investigation is ongoing,” Police said on X.
