Baramulla, Oct 31: The MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah, today inaugurated the annual Kissan Mela in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district .

Under the banner of “Greater Gulmarg” the governments officials, students and local prominent personalities were brought together to celebrate the agriculture potential of the area while raising the awareness about the vital Government schemes.

During the event, the MLA Gulmarg, Shah, highlighted the potential of the Gulmarg area as hub for High quality crops, fruits, and livestock.

Several stalls were setup by the department of agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry and sheep husbandry department. The farmers were introduced to the essential resources and schemes that could enhance their productivity and economic resilience.

“Farmers are the backbone of our society,” said MLA Farooq Shah. “Through such events like Kissan Mela, we are committed to impart knowledge and tools needed to thrive. Such schemes will not only strengthen farming practice but will also contribute to the financial stability,” he added.

While addressing the participants, Shah, highlighted the role of women in reinforcing the family bonds. He encouraged women to respect family dynamics and support one another through challenges. He acknowledged the pivotal role women play in sustaining cultural values and family harmony.

The Kisan Mela also served as a platform to honour innovation and dedication. Certificates were awarded to several entrepreneurs for their contributions to the local economy and sustainable practices. The Mela offered a plateform to network, exchange knowledge and celebrate the spirit of agriculture in the Greater Gulmarg.
