MLA Banihal Sajjad Shaheen inaugurates digital smart classroom
Banihal, Nov 20: MLA Banihal Sajjad Shaheen inaugurated a state-of-the-art Digital Smart Classroom at Shah-e-Asrar Cooperative School Kaskoot, constructed at a cost of Rs 17 lakh, marking another step toward the digital transformation of education in the region.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Priyanka Sharma, Tehsildar Banihal Amjad Hussain Keen, AD Fisheries Amanullah Khan, officials from the Cooperative and Fisheries departments, and prominent citizens, said a press release.
Addressing the gathering, Shaheen reiterated that strengthening educational infrastructure remains a core focus of his developmental agenda. He announced that funds have been allocated for Digital Smart Boards in all Government Higher Secondary and High Schools of the Banihal–Gool constituency, ensuring that students across even the remotest areas gain access to modern and technology-enabled learning.
He further informed that he has successfully secured Rs 25 crore for comprehensive infrastructure development in various schools across the constituency under different government schemes.
This funding will facilitate major upgrades to school buildings, classrooms, laboratories, and essential facilities, including significant improvements at GHSS Banihal, GHSS Pogal, GHSS Khari, GHS Indh Gool, LHS Bhimdasa, and several other institutions. Shaheen also highlighted that Rs 100 lakh has been earmarked for the expansion and strengthening of the Shah-e-Asrar Cooperative Institute Kaskoot, with work scheduled to commence soon to enhance its academic and developmental infrastructure, said the press release.
Reaffirming the government’s resolve to uplift education in remote and far-flung regions, the MLA said that targeted efforts are underway to ensure that every school in Banihal–Gool benefits from modern facilities and digital tools, thereby improving the overall quality of education and learning outcomes for local students. Later, Shaheen also inaugurated a Trout Fish Processing Unit at NHW Darshipora, financed jointly by the Fisheries and Cooperative Departments, aimed at boosting local fish processing capacity and supporting economic activities in the region.
