Gool, Sep 14: MLA Banihal Sajjad Shaheen on Sunday announced Rs 10 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for the rehabilitation of families in Gool whose houses were damaged by land sinking triggered by recent rains and flash floods.

As per a statement, sixteen families in Gool were left devastated after their homes were badly damaged due to land sinking triggered by recent heavy rains and flash floods.

Shaheen also visited Government Degree College Gool, where the affected families have been temporarily accommodated. He interacted with them, listened to their grievances, and assured them that they will receive full support in this hour of distress.

Sharing his deep anguish over the tragedy, Shaheen said, “My heart goes out to the families who have lost their homes. I assure them that they will not be left alone, and every possible step will be taken to ensure their relief, shelter, and rehabilitation.”

As an immediate support measure, Shaheen announced Rs10 lakhs out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the rehabilitation of the affected families.

He urged the District Administration to provide temporary shelters, food supplies, and medical assistance without delay. He also called for a proper survey of the damages to ensure timely compensation.

Highlighting the recurring threats in the region, Shaheen stressed the need for long-term measures to stabilise land in vulnerable areas and prevent such incidents in the future.

“The safety and dignity of our people must remain the foremost priority. I will continue to follow up with the administration until proper relief and rehabilitation measures are implemented,” he added.
