The semi-ring road project in Kashmir has not been completed within the set deadline and has got added to the long list of such incomplete infrastructure projects, experiencing time overruns. This project is aimed at alleviating the growing traffic congestion. According to reports the semi-ring  project was approved in March 2021 and was to be completed in February 2024. But later the deadline was extended to August 2024. However, now June 2025 has been fixed the fresh deadline. Already completion of a number of such multi crore infrastructural projects has got delayed. The delay is a cause of concern as 30 out of the 51 multi crore projects are said to experience setbacks. Eleven such infrastructure projects are facing a cost overrun of Rs 41,965 crore. While there are several reasons for the delay, but the delays should be avoided so that the projects are completed in time and there is no cost overrun also. All the emerging problems and issues must be addressed speedily,  in time. Be it acquiring of land, shortage of work force, and legal matters; those need timely solutions. If more problems emerge during implementation process those too have to be solved. Unnecessary lingering on of the problems cause delay and cost overrun. It is not only the completion of construction work of mega projects that is getting delayed, even the work on several smaller projects is moving on at a snail's pace. Priority should be given to the completion of all projects, big or small, in time. That way the benefits of having such infrastructure reache to the people in time. In Kashmir usually the pace of work gets disrupted or slowed down in winter months. Snowfall, rains, cold and shorter days add to the problems. Efforts have to made to take full advantage of spring, summer and autumn months as far as pace of work is concerned. This time should not be wasted. It should be fully utilised so that the projects do not miss the set deadlines and those are completed well in time.
