Head of Quick Reaction Team (QRT), Ramban, Bashir Ahmed Magray, who is leading the operation, told Greater Kashmir over the phone from the spot that the rescue teams of police, SDRF and QRT Ramban recovered the body from a 300-ft deep gorge.

He said the Thar vehicle is lying in a damaged condition while they are searching for the registration plate, which is missing so far.

The body, he said, has been shifted to District Hospital Ramban for legal formalities.

He said they were searching the area for the missing person and the vehicle from the past four days after posters surfaced on social media suggesting that a Srinagar resident had gone missing.

He said the operation was launched after a resident collecting leaves for the livestock spotted the mangled vehicle and informed the local police.
