Mismatched postings disrupt staff designated for Langate Medical Block
Kupwara, Aug 22: In a gross violation of norms, several employees including doctors and paramedics actually posted in Medical Block Langate have managed to secure postings at other locations, leaving local health facilities understaffed and patients struggling for better health care.
According to official data available with Greater Kashmir, a dental surgeon who is actually posted at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Monbal is performing his duties at District Hospital Pulwama. Another dental surgeon posted at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Langate has been shifted to Director Health Services Office in Srinagar. A Medical Officer serving in Medical Block Sogam is actually posted at PHC Monabal causing severe hardships for the locals of Monabal and adjacent villages. Similarly a chuffar from SDH Kralgund has been posted in Medical Block Kalaroos.
An optho technician who is drawing salary from Langate Block has been attached to SDH Kupwara, his actual posting happens to be at SDH Langate. Even drivers one from PHC Nowgam and another from PHC Ashpora are performing their duties at GB Pant Hospital Srinagar while the health facilities at Ashpora and Nowgam continue to suffer. A Medical Officer actually posted at PHC Unisoo has been posted at SDH Kupwara.
People from Medical Block Langate have raised their voice against this adjustment culture as health facilities in Langate Block have been left with reduced manpower thereby causing hardship for the patients. “Recently government ordered cancellation of all attached health employees but don’t know why these employees are yet to be sent back to their original place of posting. They seem to be very influential that is why even after formal orders were passed they have not been yet repatriated back,” activist Tanvir Ahmad Dar told Greater Kashmir.
The residents have appealed higher authorities, including Chief Medical Officer, to take immediate measures with regard to repatriate the staff to their original postings, so that people of Medical Block Langate can get the healthcare services they are entitled to. “This is gross violation and mismanagement on part of the concerned authorities as these employees have been allowed to move to other places without the formal orders. I believe the authorities at the helm of affairs must be held accountable as to how they have allowed these employees to serve at other places when their original place of posting is in Langate Block,” they added.
Meanwhile Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate Sheikh Khursheed said that he has given a representation to Director Health Services Kashmir in this regard recently. “After my meeting with Director Health Services Kashmir, I was assured that the employees attached to other places will sent back to Langate Block,” he said.
