Referring to last night’s incident, he said that the fire brigades reportedly ran out of water and many fire hydrants in the locality were found to be non-functional. He called for regular inspections and maintenance of fire hydrants to ensure they remain operational at all times. Mirwaiz appreciated the courage and dedication of the firemen who risk their lives to save people and property, but remarked that without proper equipment and adequate water supply, their efforts are severely hampered. He noted that water had to be drawn from the fountain of Jama Masjid, which eventually helped in bringing the fire under control.
