Mirwaiz highlights legacy of Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA)
Srinagar, Oct 13: Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq today highlighted the enduring influence of saint-scholar Amīr-e-Kabīr Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA) on Islam, culture, and civilization in Kashmir.
Addressing a seminar on the life and legacy of the revered saint at Darul Uloom Qasmia, Lal Bazaar, Mirwaiz said Shah-e-Hamadan (RA) not only brought Islam’s message to Kashmir with wisdom and compassion but also transformed its moral and social life through education, reform, and promotion of crafts and livelihoods. “He was a spiritual guide and social reformer whose teachings remain timeless,” he remarked.
Referring to Shah-e-Hamadan’s (RA) masterpiece Dhakirat-ul-Mulūk, Mirwaiz said he was honored that his doctoral research was devoted to this text, calling it “a guide not just for rulers but for all entrusted with responsibility.” The book, he noted, outlines enduring principles of justice, compassion, and good governance from the Qur’an and Sunnah “a moral compass for public life even today.”
Mirwaiz added that Shah-e-Hamadan’s (RA) Sufi vision united governance with inner reform, teaching that “no rule stands without justice, and no justice without purity of heart.” He further noted the saint’s inclusive outlook, stressing that Dhakirat-ul-Mulūk upholds the dignity and rights of non-Muslims and ensures their freedom of belief and worship , reflecting Islam’s true spirit of mercy and fairness.
Concluding, Mirwaiz said Shah-e-Hamadan’s (RA) message — rooted in faith, knowledge, ethics, and divine love (ishq-e-ilahi) continues to offer a path toward a just and compassionate society.
