Minor girl gang raped, 3 persons arrested: Police
Baramulla, June 24: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was gang raped by 3 persons in a rented accommodation in Srinagar.
The victim hails from Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district while the accused persons belong to the same area and have been arrested by the police.
A police official said that on Wednesday the parents of the victim lodged a complaint at police station Pattan stating that their minor daughter left her home on June 19, for some work and since then she has not returned back.
Following the written complaint filed by the victims' parents, the Pattan police constituted a team of police officials to crack the case. The Pattan police on June 20 successfully traced the girl and recorded her statement. The victim in her statement while describing her ordeal had stated that on June 19 when she left her home for some work she was intercepted by three persons who kidnapped her and took her to Srinagar and kept her in a rented accommodation.
She disclosed in her statement that she was gang raped by the three accused persons who latter dropped her in Pattan next day.
Following the statement of the victim, the Pattan police under the supervision of Station House Officer Pattan, Khalid Fayaz, swung into action and arrested the three persons involved in the heinous crime. An FIR vide no 219 of 2024 under section 363, 376 POSCO Act was lodged at the police station Pattan.
An official of Pattan police said that the rented accommodation where the heinous crime took place belongs to one of the accused persons. He said that further investigation has been set into motion.
