Minor boy drowns to death in Jhelum at Noorbagh

Srinagar, Apr 2:  A minor boy drowned to death in river Jhelum at Noorbagh area here.

An official said identified the deceased as 11-year-old Muneer Ahmad Khanday, son of Mohammad Maqbool Khanday, a resident of Guzarabal Noorbagh.

A police official said that the boy was rescued from the river and shifted to SHMS hospital, where the officials declared him dead.

“As the boy had drowned, the locals in the area rescued and rushed him to a nearby hospital. We also pressed a team to assess the situation. Unfortunately, the boy lost his life in the incident. After all the formalities, the body was handed over to his family,” a police official said.
