Millions of voters head to cast ballot in UK general election

New Delhi, July 4: Millions of voters across the UK are participating in the general election today, with polling stations open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM British Standard Time (BST). This election marks the first time that voters must present photo ID to cast their ballots in person and is also the first general election held in July since 1945.

Approximately 46 million eligible voters will decide the fate of 650 parliamentary seats, with a party needing at least 326 seats to secure a majority government. Party leaders, along with millions of voters, are heading to the polls to make their voices heard. Political analysts suggest the election is anticipated to bring significant change, with expectations that Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives may be replaced by Labour's Keir Starmer as the new prime minister.
