Militant activities in J-K fewer than past: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
Srinagar, Nov 02: Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh Saturday said, militant activities are on a decline in Jammu and Kashmir. He dismissed the reports of any security lapses.
The militant activities in the region cannot be said to have increased after the election, Singh said, adding, "but the fact is three-four such attacks have been reported," Singh said during a presser in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur.
"We are familiar with the number of activities in J-K, they are less in comparison to the past," said Singh.
He said, there is no question of security lapse and that the security forces are alert, news agency KNO reported.
Singh's remarks come as two encounters are underway in Kashmir with two militants killed in region's Anantnag, and two CRPF and two SOG personnel of J-K police injured in Khanyar firefight in Srinagar.
