Mian Altaf demands stop in Anantnag for Delhi-Srinagar train
Srinagar, Dec 5: National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad on Thursday appealed to the Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, to include Anantnag as a designated stop for the upcoming Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express.
In a written communication Mian Altaf said, “I have come to know that Vande Bharat sleeper train services will commence from January 25 next year in Kashmir. Further, once the railway line to Srinagar is operationalised, the people will be able to directly travel to Kashmir in the train. Anantnag which is also the district headquarters is the first important district in the Kashmir valley after Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and stopping the train at Anantnag will help the people in the adjoining district also.”
He added that being the elected representative of the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency he would be happy if the stop of the train is created at Anantnag district, so that people of his constituency and other adjoining districts will get benefitted from it.
