Mewar University revokes suspension of 35 Kashmiri students
Srinagar, Oct 22: Mewar University in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan Tuesday revoked its suspension order against 35 Kashmiri students who according to reports had staged protests against the university over an unapproved nursing course.
“Taking into consideration of the request of the Kashmiri students studying in Mewar University and on the advice of the Government administration, University administration hereby immediately revokes the above suspension order,” an order copy signed by Registrar of the said university reads.
It also reads that “University administration is in discussion with the students to amicably resolve the issue of B.Sc Nursing program”.
The students had been protesting the university’s failure to obtain necessary approvals from the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC) for the B.Sc. Nursing course for three straight days.
Earlier Minister of School Education & Higher Education Sakeena Itoo took up the issue with chief minister J&K Omar Abdullah who had assured the matter will be taken up with chief minister Rajasthan for resolution.
“Regarding J&K Students in Rajasthan: I am receiving distress calls from students alleging that the University is threatening to rusticate them. I have taken up the matter with Hon’ble CM who has assured to take up the same with Hon’ble CM of Rajasthan to resolve the issue,” the cabinet minister Sakeena Itoo had posted on X.
