Meter installation no excuse for 200 Units free power: Ghulam Hassan Mir

Srinagar, Dec 7: Apni Party senior leader Ghulam Hassan Mir has said that instead of “making excuses of non-installation of meters being a roadblock for the free 200 units of monthly electricity”, National Conference government should create a billing provision wherein the deduction of 200 units is made from the bill amount.

“CM says free power of 200 units is not possible unless smart meters are installed .Without meters it is not possible. If the CM is serious about his commitment let him deduct the cost of 200 units from the bills of the consumers quite simply,” Mir said in a statement.

He said 200 free units as promised to AAY category must come into effect as soon as possible.” If the CM has promised 200 units free power, then make a calculation and reduce that amount from the consumers bill,” said Mir. Notably, on the lines of Punjab and Delhi, the NC-led government in its pre-poll promise had said that people in Jammu and Kashmir will get 200 Units of free power supply once it comes to power.
