Srinagar, Aug 05: The Meteorological department has issued fresh weather alert for next 4-6 hours, stating that parts of Jammu and Kashmir likely to receive intense rain and thundershower with gusty winds.

The department stated that there is a possibility of landslides and mudslides at few vulnerable places of Jammu and Kashmir; and urged upon people to suspend Shikara and boat riding during intense showers and gusty winds.

In fresh advisory, the department emphasised upon people to stay away from loose structures, electric poles and old trees in order to avoid any damage.

“Nowcast update J&K@ 2045 hrs: Generally cloudy with a spell of Rain/Thundershower at many places most likely over many parts of North & Central Kashmir, few parts of South Kashmir, Poonch & Rajouri, Banihal, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Jammu, Samba & Kathua during next 4-6 hrs,” MeT advisory reads.

“Few parts of Uri, Baramula, Sopore, Kupwara, Bandipora, parts of Badgam & Srinagar, parts of Poonch, Rajouri Banihal-Ramban axis, Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, few parts of Samba & Kathua may receive intense Rain showers with thunder/Lightning/gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) during next 2-3 hours”.

“Possibility of landslides/mudslides at few vulnerable places. Suspend Shikara riding/Boating during intense showers/gusty winds. And stay away from loose structures/electric poles/old Trees etc,” reads an advisory.
