MeT predicts ‘heavy to very heavy’ rains over J-K parts from tonight
Srinagar, Sept 01: The Meteorological department today forecast ‘heavy to very heavy’ rains over multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir from September 1 late night which according to officials may trigger cloudbursts, flashfloods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones like situation at many vulnerable places.
The Meteorological department in its fresh advisory predicted brief spell of light rain/ intense showers toward late afternoon today at few places of Jammu and Kashmir. It said that fresh spesll of heavy rain over few districts of Jammu division towards late night/early morning of Sept 2.
From September 2-3, there will be generally cloudy with one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thunder at many places with possibility of ‘heavy to very heavy’ rain over Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur and Reasi with ‘moderate to heavy’ rainfall over Doda, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar, Anantnag and Kulgam mainly towards late night of September 2 and early morning of September 3 till late afternoon, the officials in advisory said.
They said in the meanwhile there is a possibility of cloudbursts, flashfloods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at many vulnerable places. The officials also forecast rise in water level in rivers; and advised general public to stay away from water bodies, nallas, river embankments and loose structures etc.
From September 4-7, there is a possibility of rain/thunder at few places in J&K, officials added.
