Srinagar, May 27: The Meteorological department has issued an alert, stating that parts of Jammu and Kashmir will likely receive spell of light to moderate rain and thundershower during next 4-6 hours.

It also said that many places of north and central Kashmir, besides few parts of south Kashmir, Chenab, Pir Panchal and parts of Jammu division may receive intense rain showers with gusty winds of 50-60 KMPH during next 2-3 hour.

The department advised general public to suspend shikara and boat riding during next 2-3 hours.

“Generally cloudy with a spell of light to moderate rain/thundershower most likely over most parts of north Kashmir, central & south Kashmir, Poonch, parts of Rajouri, Banihal, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Doda & Kishtwar during next 4-6 hrs,” MeT official said.

“Many places of north & central Kashmir, few parts of south Kashmir, parts of Banihal-Ramban axis and few places of Doda, Udhampur & Reasi may receive intense rain showers with gusty winds (50-60 KMPH) during next 2-3 hours,” he said.

The official further said, “There is a possibility of landslides/mudslides at few vulnerable places,” and advised general public to suspend shikara and boat riding during next 2-3 hours.
