Mental Health Issues
Mental health issues cannot be taken lightly. The families and the concerned government departments have to collectively play a role in addressing the problem. There is a need to change the atmosphere of negativity. Thinking negatively worsen the problems.
According to mental health experts strong communication among the members of a family is important to minimise such issues. An effective communication provides a strong emotional and psychological support to the persons dealing with serious stress or mental health issues.
Counselling by mental health experts must be sought whenever and wherever required. Some avoid counselling and thus complicate things for themselves and their families. The concerned government departments too have to function in a way so that the personal and professional growth of the youth is not hampered.
The growing problem of unemployment among the educated youth needs to be addressed as this is leading to stress. Though the problem of unemployment is not J&K specific, but unfortunately the private sector, unlike most other parts in the country, could not flourish here.
It is a fact that government cannot provide jobs to every unemployed youth, but lot of posts are lying vacant in various government departments. These posts have to be filled up. The recruitment process should be speedy, transparent and corruption free.
Corruption and some other malpractices led to the cancellation of a number of selection processes in the recent past. Facilitating a speedy, transparent and fair recruitment can help in saving the youth from unnecessary stress and frustration.
Not only the government but the society at large must ensure that growing mental health issues among the people, and particularly among the youth, are minimised by providing a positive and productive atmosphere. If our youth have a better prospect, mental health issues will automatically decline.
