Mental health check-ups, interactive sessions organised in Uri
Uri, Oct 10: World Mental Health Day was celebrated on Thursday at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Chief Medical Office (CMO) Baramulla and the Department of Psychiatry & Community Medicine at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla.
Activities included free mental health check-ups and consultations, expert lectures by GMC Baramulla faculty, distribution of mental health resources, and interactive sessions with school students.
Additionally, awareness programs were conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Uri to engage the younger generation and emphasize the importance of mental well-being.
Dr Balwinder Singh, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Uri, stated that community involvement is crucial in promoting mental wellness. “We must work together to break stigmas and ensure accessible mental health services,” he said.
He further explained that the event aimed to raise awareness about mental health, promote early intervention and treatment, and foster a supportive community.
