Member Secretary Central Silk Board chairs high-level meet
Srinagar, Nov 3: The Member Secretary, Central Silk Board P Sivakumar, who is on an official visit to Kashmir Valley, chaired a meeting at the Directorate of Sericulture Dev. Department. The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Central Silk Board and the Sericulture Dev. Department J&K.
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director Sericulture provided summary of various initiatives being undertaken by the department and provided details viz-a-viz the beneficiary related components for timely release of funds.
He outlined the strategic steps and the proactive approaches of the department, while implementing the plans at ground level and the steps being taken by the department for effective implementation of the schemes. Bhat mphasised the department's focus on sustainable and innovative methods to increase productivity and improve the quality of cocoons produced in the region. He also apprised the Member Secretary about the various programmes of the Department which include mass awareness, skill development, extensive plantation drives, reachout initiatives of the department to cater people in tribal areas in J&K and Infrastructure Development. He highlighted the achievements of the Department for the year 2024-25 with more than 90% expenditure under the various schemes. He also stressed for release of funds to the State for the Year 2025-26 so that it is implemented at ground level. The plan covers more than 2000 beneficiaries which will be benefited by the proposed schemes. He also informed about the various post cocoon initiatives undertaken by the Department in this regard.
